The primary challenge was designing an effective security interface that communicates complex threat detection and reputation analysis in immediately understandable visual language. The design needed to create trustworthy warning screens that prevent user panic while encouraging informed decision-making, develop an intuitive reputation rating system using visual indicators (color coding, icons, status labels) that users instantly recognize, design browser extension UI elements that integrate seamlessly with browser chrome without cluttering the interface, present technical security concepts accessibly to non-technical users, create clear alerts for scams, malware, and dangerous sites that prompt appropriate user action, and establish visual hierarchy that prioritizes safety warnings while maintaining design simplicity. The extension required consistent design across popup interfaces, warning screens, and browser toolbar elements.
Solution
Developed a comprehensive UX/UI design system featuring a prominent landing page with core feature cards presenting Website Checker, site safety verification, and performance benefits. Designed detailed warning screen interfaces with color-coded threat indicators (red for danger, yellow for caution, green for safe) and clear messaging about detected threats. Created a reputation rating dashboard with visual indicators showing safety status, child-safety compatibility, and confidence metrics. Designed browser toolbar icon with doughnut-shaped reputation indicator for at-a-glance site ratings. Implemented consistent visual language across all interfaces using intuitive color coding and iconography.
